During the corona lockdowns, I took up making cocktails as a hobby. In this document I will share some insights I have gained that makes it easier to make new cocktails, along with recipes for my favorites.
Understanding cocktails is much easier if you conceptualize them as belonging to different categories. I will use the categories that makes sense to me, which are broadly similar to those described in The Joy of Mixology and Cocktail codex.
Consists of a spirit, citrus fruit, and syrup.
A common composition is 2oz spirit, 3/4oz citrus fruit and 3/4 syrup.
